I apologize for not posting and updating as much as I should, but life has been so hectic and busy. As previously stated in my older posts, I recently rescued Popsicle, the stray dog that had been roaming around my apartment complex. It has been such a roller-coaster ever since we have gotten her. Her initial leg splint has unfortunately yielded the results that we were not hoping for, and so as of yesterday, we have gone to a specialist to address our next step. After spending almost 12 hours at the hospital, we finally got to see her X-rays, which showed that her tibia was completely fractured. In addition, the X-rays also showed that both of her kneecaps are internally rotated, so now we have another problem to address. We have decided that we will treat only one of her kneecaps now since he will already be operating on one of her legs. However, her other kneecap will have to wait because we still need to start her heartworm treatment as soon as possible, and we also need to spay her before her next heat cycle kicks in. As you could imagine, we are so stressed at the incredible amount that has accumulated over the past week. However, I know that in another 3-4 months, she will be absolutely perfect and 1,000x healthier than she ever was. That reason alone is probably the only thing helping me get through this emotionally and financially difficult process.
But anyway, enough with the depressing ramblings. This weekend has been absolutely GORGEOUS. Houston hasn’t felt this wonderful since last winter. To celebrate this short-lived blessing, I baked an appropriate dessert. In addition, I had one of my most favorite breakfasts this morning for my non-paleo weekend: french bread, butter, and hot vanilla coffee. But back to the dessert… I made pumpkin cake with a cinnamon glaze, which is shown here:

I haven’t tasted it yet, but I cannot wait to dig into this after dinner tonight!
P.S.- amidst all of the sad and depressing news that we received after Popsicle’s splint procedure, I snapped a picture of her after she had a reverse-sedation. She was INCREDIBLY high, and was extremely loopy for the entire day/night. It was hilarious, and I honestly couldn’t help myself. The picture doesn’t do her justice at all, but her mouth hung open and she was so glazed over. It was great.
